As millions fear Trump's anti-immigrant executive orders, this is the very first bill passed by the new Senate (aided by Democrats):
The Senate has voted 64-35 to pass the Laken Riley Act, which will enable Trump’s ICE to put migrants in detention without due process & empower states to block visa programs & federal immigration policy.
12 Democrats voted with Republicans.

Makes me sad re-reading this amazing letter from ex-Watergate Special Prosecutor Archibald Cox sent to high school seniors in 1994 after they asked him “What should Americans learn from Watergate?” 20 years later in ‘94.
His answer is remarkable—unfortunately things didn’t work out so well in 2024.

How is it in the span of 3 months of being a lawyer I’ve had men tell me my body is on a reproductive clock (yet he openly admitted to regretting having children), saw a male lawyer take his wedding ring off when he thought I wasn’t looking, told me I’m only good for a book of business bc I’m pretty

House will vote on a bill that would allow the Trump administration to declare any non-profit group a "supporter of terrorism" and remove its tax-exempt status. Unfortunately, the aim is to include organizations who support Palestine.
