New Zealand has a law that does exactly that. It’s nicknamed the Waka jumping law. ( changing canoes ). It is triggered by the party leader so is not automatic. It’s a little flawed because of that.

So all we need to do is to get the Aussies to sign it. That might be somewhat difficult.

Each state has its own parliament and a Governor so in theory we could maintain the crown-treaty relationship if NZ were to become a state of Australia. Queensland like New Zealand has a unicameral house so nothing would need to change there. Tax and Super might be the biggest issues.

In New Zealand there are no compulsory vaccinations. Most people here get vaccines for their children because they are not stupid. ( during Covid there was some very strong persuasion used for certain public facing professions ).
