Wait until we see how much is deferred. $60 million per may be a little misleading, but maybe not: $12 million per WAR is right around what other contracts have paid this year. Tucker is typically a 5 WAR guy.

It’s all performative - game theory - at this point. Each side is trying to persuade the other that the cost of trying to get its way is too high. There’s an escalation of language and symbolic actions by both parties. With luck the situation stabilizes. Luck seems to be in short supply these days.

The pressure put on teachers (through administration) to let things slide with a wrist slap was often intense. This we teach the next generation that they can do as they please with no consequences. Now look where we are as a society today. /end

Thank you, Charlie. This problem has percolated down throughout the upper classes of our society. As a teacher at a high school with many wealthy families, it became incredibly difficult to hold students from those families accountable for things like cheating. /1

Society should have sufficient support for parents so that people who want kids can have as many or as few as they want. People who do not want to have kids should not feel pressured into having any. There are many ways of making a life, people should choose the life they want, it’s pretty simple.

Trump’s approach worked because his supporters knew what he said in public was bullshit and as soon as he got in office he would screw over the people they wanted screwed over. Democrats would need someone with that kind of credibility to make that work, as they are used to D’s selling them out. /1
