The legendary Buffalo Bill once asked the equally legendary Wild Bill Hickok to perform with him on a New York stage. It did not go well. Read Buffalo Bill's own account here:

Meet Paul Kelly, founder of New York's notorious Five Points Gang. Here's a very strange article from 1905 where the reporter (who must have had a death wish) speculates that Kelly's distinctive looks indicate he's just a 'Common Thug'.

Yes, Wild Bill Hickok and Buffalo Bill were real men. Here's a fascinating article where an aging Buffalo Bill reminisces about his old pal Wild Bill and their adventures together in the field and on stage. (Photo: Wild Bill Hickok) #oldwest #wildwest

This dapper fellow was one Patrick Floyd Jarvis Garrett. You'll know him better as Sheriff Pat Garrett. He sounds like something out of a film but he was a real man who hunted down and killed the (also very real) Billy the Kid. #wildwest #oldwest #billythekid

And gangsters - Bugsy Siegel, The Kray brothers, Lucky Luciano, Monk Eastman - all real people. So I'll be writing and posting about these wise guys and sharing some old newspaper articles.

So, what can you expect from this account? Cowboys, for a start - or at least characters from the Old West. Billy the Kid, Wild Bill Hickok, Buffalo Bill...all these men were real characters (who just happened to be called Bill) so I'll be sharing facts and old newspaper articles on their exploits.
