Well, as I remember it, the Go team was very conservative about features right from the start.
They make the development easier by supporting only reduced set of features.
It's quite easy to learn and remember all the details of the language.

Most Gophers (like myself) seem to be happy with the language as it is.
Other devs are happy with other languages...

I would be careful with names that sound very different than Yoav.
If one is talking about Yoav and the other about Larry, they will have a hard time to figure out that they're really talking about the same person.

Yes, it's more explicit. And I'm for readability and reducing mental load.
But this is so foundational that you can easily learn it in your first hour of Go. After getting used to it private and public are just noise adding mental load.

But the 'simple is better than clever' attitude of most Gophers has prevented a lot of harm, so far. 😀
