I doubt this is for a lack of nerds (I'm saying it in a good way) who like this stuff. It's another sign of how the fediverse is failing.

To me, federation is a tool like a pen or a key. It's a promising tool. It has interesting attributes. After this, I am going to follow the lead of others to explore other options like Nostr or small social networks more. I am not saying there has to be one solution.

I saw a couple of posts which were unsettling for me. It was like seeing someone who is part of a cult. All they did was regurgitate cliché talking points.

This doesn't mean we all have to go to Twitter, Facebook or Bluesky. We need to unwrap the whole silver bullet mythos around federation.

It might also be a sign that Silicon Valley (and in the case of Mastodon, Berlin) are just not delivering. Federation is sold as a silver bullet for everything. Bluesky pretends to be decentralized.

I'd hope that "safe" isn't a synonym for being censorious here (the article mainly talks about minors being banned from the site rather than censoring content).

So, that was a thing.

Some of these things are also akin to beating a horse. If someone doesn't like, say, the transported to another world genre, then it's pointless to watch such titles just to complain. They are not the target audience.

This is particularly the case when someone goes out of their way to watch a title which they know they wouldn't be interested in. While infantile language could be an indicator, another indicator could be a profile which looks themed to drum up provocation. #anime @anime
