A person I talked with today just had his 6th infection. Cancer treatment wiped out his immune system (and all these infections wouldn't have helped, either). It's so sad....

Yes, I was off Twitter for a few months, but I went back in July, to find that engagement has gone down even further while the insanity is getting worse. So I'm trying this out....
October 6, 2023 at 3:44 AM
Thank you. It's an odd glitch, though....
October 6, 2023 at 1:40 AM
Well, that's reassuring. I do prefer a glitch in the app to a glitch in my brain....
October 6, 2023 at 1:40 AM
That's too bad.... There really should be some official information. If NVX really won't be approved till the end of the year, I would take an mRNA now....
October 4, 2023 at 11:12 AM
Good, though they took their sweet time. Let's hope that Health Canada follows suit soon. I don't want to wait too much longer to get a booster, but I'd much rather get a 3rd Novavax than an mRNA.... I wish we had a date for when they'll meet to decide, so that i can make an informed decision.

Thank you (though I'd say I'm just a medium human). In my experience, the more I learn, the more I realize how much is there that I don't know. Maybe I'm just a bad learner, but at least I'm not too arrogant about what little I do know....

They already laugh nervously when I tell them that, so I don't drive the knife in any deeper (but we generally get pretty smart people in the PhD program). I mostly try to teach them to question themselves at every step (as well as the studies they read, even if published in good journals).
October 2, 2023 at 12:52 AM
The problem of many people with PhDs is that they think they know more then they do, rather than the reverse. I tell the PhD students in my course that I hope that, by the end, they will feel that they know less than when they started (though I don't write this in the official course outline...).

I found this. I must have read about it on the *other* place ...

Apparently, when Novavax was co-administered with the inactivated influenza vaccine, the antibody response to Covid-19 was somewhat reduced

I can't remember where I saw it but, apparently, the protection against COVID is reduced when it was given together with the flu shot (at least for NVX). However, since I found this information sitting in my brain without me knowing how it got there, don't take my word for it....
September 28, 2023 at 11:15 PM
People can *get* both that....
September 28, 2023 at 10:24 PM
Yes, Boileau said today that people can both that and the COVID booster at the same time (which one shouldn't do with Novavax, assuming that will be an option).
September 28, 2023 at 10:23 PM
I know - I really wish we knew when Health Canada would decide, how long till the provinces procure them, etc.... (I'm quite mad at Novavax for applying so late, though. It's almost as if people in their marketing department work for the competitors....)
September 28, 2023 at 10:18 PM
Man, I really would like to have my 3rd Novavax, but I am afraid this is going to take too long.... Not sure whether to wait or get one of the others. I wish we knew some dates (& the provinces have to procure vaccines, this time)

I think "the plan" has shifted to continuous forced infection.... Look at how almost no health officer recommends masks. Indeed, when asked about them, most react as if they've been threatened with something awful, should they ever recommend them....

Wow! She is extremely talented (I can't draw to save my life, but I wish I could).
September 22, 2023 at 3:19 AM
They didn't give a number but, back when govt's began bamboozling us with "living with the virus", we were told it meant accepting more death and disease. But "normal" was calling loudly, & most just went along.... Besides, unlike all other infections, children couldn't get or transmit COVID 🙄.
September 21, 2023 at 6:52 PM
It looks that way, given how hard they're peddling the wash your hands refrain.... too many healthy people perturb the narrative of "lockdowns devastated our immune system & we'll have immunity debt for many generations to come". (We won't, but only because we won't have many generations to come.)
September 21, 2023 at 6:41 PM
That was the "old" public health, but those principles were so yesterday.... The new public health may not leave much health in the public, but it's agile, modern &, most importantly, lets the rich get rich.... Sorry - I meant - it allows free choice....

Thank you! Just came on here to try it, as I hadn't taken to the fediverse. I'm still also on the "other" place, but I most certainly won't stay if it becomes subscription....
September 21, 2023 at 6:12 PM
Exactly.... Once we've all had several infections, who'll even notice a little harm?
September 21, 2023 at 6:08 PM
I am using the web version on my phone. Looks almost exactly like Twitter (unsurprisingly), but it's a bit buggier.
September 21, 2023 at 11:26 AM
Does that include the whisky, though?
