A fantastic launch for a very good new album All It Was at the Vortex last night from the @oliebrice.bsky.social quartet. Having a band with the pedigree of Alexander Hawkins, Rachel Musson and Will Glaser meant that some wonderfully propulsive tunes became vehicles for blistering improvisations.

And of course hearing him live more times than I could count - the quartet with Jason Yarde, John Edwards and Alexander Hawkins was maybe the greatest band I've ever heard live, definitely one of the very greatest jazz groups of our time.

Very sorry to hear about the great, great Louis Moholo-Moholo. I only got to play with him once, but I'm not sure I've ever been more excited at an opportunity to play with someone - and we even played "You Ain't Gonna Know Me Cos You Think You Know Me" which was an unbelievable thrill...
