OMG the National Party totally screwed up the vote on the Broadcasting Bill. First they didn’t have signed proxies for the conscience vote. Then they didn’t have the 20 members in the house required for a conscience vote - so the vote is a nullity. Politics 101 learn to count !!!

I will never understand people who claim to understand capitalism and profit, and also suggest that "the market" can deliver security or lower costs or whatever.

"The market" will extract as much profit as it can. That's the explicit goal. It's an obligation for management.

So, breaking a window = burglary. I know someone else who's being charged with burglary also for breaking a window.

Won't this severely skew the crime statistics? More burglaries will be reported, but really they're just the lesser misdemeanour of "wilful damage" (or whatever the charge is).
