I’ve read up on this one and while it’s obviously not the only factor it definitely helps. The only thing is what happens when we take into account the people who routinely do not vote at all.

I don't have time to go into all of the studies right now, but most of them would probably agree with the blue text suggestions more than anything else. Of course, people who do quit don't all do it the same way, and the taperers usually take longer to stop.

Both the nicotine and the creation of a ceremony, plus the social support to enable the habit, were the reason they kept going as long as they did. Especially the boomer and Gen X generations. (I'm a millennial, so I grew up with Bill Nye telling us why it's horrible to smoke.)
