One interesting thing to come out of this project is reading Goemon’s fans recollections about this day. December 23, 1998, was a day of disappointment for a lot of kids, as they were expecting a Nintendo 64-shaped box as their Christmas present, and instead they got a cursed disc.

Two beloved Goemon games released on the same day. McGuinness is undoubtedly the more prominent title: it was constantly put forth as one of the best games on the Super Famicom. It‘s arguably the game that best encapsulates everything about the Ganbare Goemon series.
