Other than being tricky to transplant, I see no reason that Common Milkweed wouldn't thrive for you once established. It can take years to establish though. Patience!

Swamp is a robust grower, but a short lived plant, especially if you have milkweed weevils. If you do get weevils, keep the soil around the plant very swamp-like.

Butterfly Weed has good years and bad. It does not like it's feet wet and the young ones can be badly damaged by aphids unless they are protected until they are old enough to shrug them off. Also it does not like a lot of mulch around it's roots.

Thomas Jefferson's favorite tree. I love my fringe trees. I was lucky enough to get a male and a female many years ago. Sadly, they are now infested with emerald ash borers.
