Parenting isn’t just about the kids. It’s about the team.

When tensions rise, don’t let misunderstandings fester.

- Talk
- Apologize
- Reconnect

A strong partnership at home isn’t just good for you - it’s one of the best gifts you can give your kids.

We ended the night on a positive note.

Talking about how to tackle these challenges together.

The kids are watching. They’ll see how we work as a team and maybe, just maybe, carry that into their own lives someday.

It would’ve been easier to ignore it. To let things fester and hope it blew over.

But this I’ve learned: never wait to address an issue. Even when you’re tired.

Parenting is hard.

Doing it without a strong partnership is even harder.

Once they got back from basketball, I pulled her aside.

I told her I was sorry. That it looked like I wasn’t on her side, but I absolutely am.

I told her how much I appreciate everything she does for this family every day.

I thought I was helping when I stepped in. I tried to calm things down and hugged my son.

But my peacekeeping came across as taking sides.

It felt to her like I wasn’t backing her up, even after all she’d done to keep things afloat while I was away.

I could see the hurt.

My wife was frustrated with our son. He’d “forgotten” where his shorts were (in his dresser) and couldn’t find the socks he wore earlier.

It had been a rough few days for her—solo with four little ones who weren’t exactly cooperative.

Her patience was thin. Understandably so.

After a few days away for work, I was back home.

Exhausted, but trying to be the dad my family needs.

- Working hard
- Picking up tasks
- Keeping the peace when things get heated

Tonight, it didn’t go as planned.
