This year, we noted the return of troubling TV tropes, like the association of abortion with shame and death. On The Hunting Wives, for example, (spoiler alert!), a character committed murder to prevent her abortion from becoming public.

Only 18% of this year’s characters received emotional support before, during, or after their abortions. These included plotlines from some of this year’s most-watched television shows, such as The Pitt and Ginny & Georgia.
