In my elden ring mork borg hack I made staffs decrease the difficulty of spellcasting by 1 if held, as an arcane focus instead of req. Its only a 5% increase and it sacrifices being able to use shields or better weapons but miscasts can be sooo bad I think its still appealing enough.
