I had never heard Ariana Grande speak until she did SNL and my immediate thought upon hearing her was “OMG she has musical theatre voice!” (Not a criticism, was a technical theatre major in college)

Aren’t you basically arguing then that the “wokeness” doesn’t matter anyway? The problem with political pundits is you have to pretend that most voters are making rational informed decisions, because if you went with the obvious truth that they’re mostly easily duped idiots you’d be out of a job.

My wife and I have a recurring joke that a place looks like Stars Hollow when there are about five times as many people walking around than it feels like there should be.

You’re inventing history here though. African American wasn’t supposed to replace the N word, it was supposed to replace Black. By the time it came around the only people using the N word were out and proud racists and Black people. Then, to David’s point, it failed to replace Black.

Probably? Honestly I think his point is that us liberals getting ourselves twisted up in wording debates about things like avoiding terms like “illegal immigrants” when the people we’re trying to avoid offending are saying that and much worse just comes across as very silly.

I have spent the last two days waiting on my clients’s clients approval on a lens flare on a candle commercial, and that’s with a competent agency. By the time these yahoos are done with staffing a year will be gone.

I was talking to a guy who had a Skyline years ago and he was trading it in for a Corvette, I was really surprised and I asked him why? He said part of the reason to having a car like that was to impress people and the only people impressed with a Skyline were adolescent boys.

I’ve lived in Los Angeles for 26 years. Someone stole my car radio once about 20 years ago and the cops found it an hour later because they saw a homeless guy trying to sell it the end of the block. Hellscape I tell you.

On the bright side at least we don’t have to lay them all off to tape anymore. I once spent a solid week laying off and checking all the deliverables for a single Clinique spot. Ranged from HDCAM-SR to DVD.

I have three old people in my life that read and respect Dowd, which sadly outnumbers every other columnist except Krugman. I think if you’re like 65 or older you’ve been reading her since the eighties and if the Clinton shit didn’t turn you off you still are.
