*I posted this because, these last few years, I've had the pleasure of making great friends from Australia, a country that just celebrated the anniversary of its colonization. As we all get hit hard by the Imperial Boomerang, my thoughts drift towards them, too.

& while it is mostly a game about the joys of finding cool bugs and birds, it's so clear how this all fits into the presence of God/s in all of it.

—finding a painting your Dad made when he was younger, learning how to pitch a tent, or realizing something about a typewriter makes you write better than using a word processor. It's a really quandary for a video game of its time and kind of a bittersweet generational cycle. Idk.

& it does this in some very simple & obvious ways, but mostly just with how the world is presented, looks, feels, is interacted with. It's the only one that isn't a technological leap forward from the previous one too. It's not the last gen I enjoyed but it's the last one that felt like—

I've always said that Gen 2 is kinda quietly profound, & carries with it a deeply felt/ realized idea of the world; how we can interact with it when elements of modernity are stripped away. It's not just nostalgia or RETVRNslop, it kinda even-handedly questions what changes for what reasons.
