Worst case, I can still write AI-less code as a hobby. Like people today still manually craft all kinds of stuff that has long been automated by machines. Maybe I’ll even sell it as “artisanal handmade software”

I’m not sure there’s anything particular about working on AI that’s less likely to be automated by AI than working on regular complex software.

Anyway, it depends on the person if you’ll enjoy it. Maybe the majority of people will, like you. Maybe I haven’t given it enough of a chance myself.

To me this reads as: AI won’t kill software engineering, but it will take the fun out of it. Many people will feel the opposite, but for me the actual coding has always been the fun part, the part that gets me going. Oh well…
