"We Christians, sinners though we be like other men, are not allowed thus to debase our nature, or to defraud ourselves of God's mercy; and though it be very terrible to speak to the living God, yet speak we must, or die;" John Henry Newman, PPS 1.11

In one version of the Christian journey, escaping Hell is not the concern. Rather, it is the search for the pearl of great price that defines one's motivation for the life of constraint. God is the goal, not escaping Hell. www.onoekeh.com/1/post/2025/...
What's the Right Motivation for the Christian Life?
Let's stipulate the following: Jesus died for all our sins (past and future) and as a result, you're not going to Hell, or whatever you want to call the eternal torture chamber. So, if certain...

It is an infallible mark of a wayward, infamous, base, abject, and degraded mind to think about food and drink before mealtime, much more so to delight ourselves later with the pleasure we had in eating, keeping it alive in words and imagination

St. Augustine throwing shade:

"There are the weaker brothers, in the married, state, who have children or look to have them, who are masters of houses or households, the Apostle addresses them in the churches, teaching them and warning them how they ought to live, . . ."

If God is a distraction for the nonbeliever fighting evil, then should not the work of God (fighting evil/death) continue for them without belief in God? It raises the questions for Christians: What specific, unique thing does faith in Christ add to the fight against evil?

Are immoral acts located solely in intention? Should we hold people culpable for crimes they will but have not yet committed? The Minority Report film showcases a future about eradicating culpability and moral training.

Jesus said, "I am the light of the world." He also said, "You are the light of the world." That's a lot of pressure.

In John, Jesus gives a new commandment to love each other as he loved his disciples. It's a really nice commandment, but the problem is, why exactly is this different from love God and love your neighbor? What's the newness in the former versus the latter?

Paul speaks about "the man of lawlessness" who will precede the day of the coming of the Lord. This is the anti-Christ. I've seen the question raised: Is President Trump the anti-Christ? tinyurl.com/Fear-Heaven

Is it true that the world becomes better in any way if it is made better in one way? Is the world made better by incremental net gains? The was the question posed to Will Wilberforce in Amazing Grace. tinyurl.com/FearHeaven

The brilliant Archimedes was killed by a drunken Roman soldier. What if he lived longer? In every age, the elite are killed by their version of drunken soldiers. Should we protect the elite because of what they might eventually give to society? www.onoekeh.com/home/the-dea...
The Death of Archimedes and Protecting the Elites
One moment in history that haunts me is the death of the great scientist (proto-scientist), Archimedes (287-212 BC). Archimedes was one of the most brilliant humans ever to live. He famously solved a....

Luke 24:15 says that Jesus was "taken up into heaven." Mark 16:19 says the same .  Acts 1:9 also says, " he was lifted up, and a cloud took him from their sight. " Jesus' bodily ascent into heaven...

President Trump has driven or revealed a wedge in Christianity that may be impossible to overcome. His presence shows that "Christianity" is no more than a sociological umbrella term that masks the canyons between different religious streams. www.onoekeh.com/1/post/2025/...
President Trump Approval and Christianity
Christianity is splintering along racial and ethnic lines in the U.S. It's fair to say that President Trump and his policies are particularly unique in history, and so it's hard to be neutral or...
