This discourse has been absurd for my entire adult life. I recall when George W. Bush, scion of a wealthy political dynasty, was depicted as a regular guy while Barack Obama, raised by a single mom without family money or connections, spent his career being called an “elitist.”

Saying this again but perhaps the worst thing to happen to American politics in the past 50 yrs was the redefinition of “elites” from the wealthy/military/politicians to liberal entertainers and academics. If we could get over that, I think a lot of problems would be solved
