On a trip to Auckland once, my sister once had to wear almost every item of clothing she'd taken with her so that the books she'd bought would fit in her suitcase for the flight home to Welly.

I did this to my mums tree in the middle of the night a few years ago but apparently it wasn't funny...

Ok, so here are my favourite books of 2025 so far, and I suspect that they will still be high on the list come Christmas!

Katherine Arden's Winternight Trilogy, historical Russian folklore / fantasy set in the 1300s, with a truely awesome protagonist.
