Thanks to support from the Emirates Airline Foundation, OCL sent two teams of volunteers to spend one week each at the Red Crescent Hospital in Amman Jordan in November, as part of an ongoing collaboration between the Jordanian and Bahraini Red Crescent Societies (JRCS/BRCS), RCSI Bahrain and OCL.

OCL and Children's Health Ireland(CHI) were delighted to welcome Vietnamese Anaesthetists Dr Hanh and Dr Nhat to Dublin for a 6 week visit to observe the CHI at Crumlin Paediatric Acute Pain Team. Thanks to support from the Christina Noble Children’s Foundation and the Emirates Airline Foundation.

Operation Childlife volunteers Prof. Martin Corbally and Dr Paul Oslizlok with a team from the Children's Hospital, Boston. With support from the Buchanan Foundation, they visited the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana in September, to discuss training opportunities for their local colleagues.

With support from the Emirates Airline Foundation, OCL volunteers ran a PICU/NICU nursing bootcamp over four days in Muhimbili National Hospital, Tanzania. Our fantastic, expert, volunteers, delivered training on core areas of paediatric critical care nursing, to nurses from two local hospitals.

A team of OCL volunteers just completed a successful mission at the Jordanian Red Crescent Hospital Amman, completing 27 surgeries and seeing 37 clinic patients, all children, many of them Syrian refugees. Part of an ongoing collaboration between OCL, Jordan and Bahrain Red Crescent and RCSI Bahrain

One year old Naswirinia with Prof. Martin Corbally, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon and OCL founder. Naswirinia was born with a very narrowed lower oesophagus and could not eat or swallow. Following a recent esophageal dilatation performed by the OCL team she is now able to swallow food normally.

OCL Transforming Lives – Keegan (8) and his father with OCL volunteer Dr Alshafie, who performed his successful final hypospadias surgery (usually completed in infancy in Ireland), during a recent OCL mission to Tanzania. Keegan had a difficult path, previously undergoing 9 unsuccessful surgeries.

Our wonderful cardiologists and cardiac surgeons were in Children’s Hospital No 2 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam last week. Our mission to transform children’s lives by conducting complex surgeries and training local medical professionals continues to grow from strength to strength. #medicalaltruism
