I’m a news & political junkie, media professional & lover of literary fiction. An independent in a red state w/ a family of Trumpers, I need to express myself (shout/vent/scream into the void) as we enter this new dark age of America. No DMs please!
We just got back from 10 days in Jamaica, our annual sibling getaway. I took a 10 day break from all social media and survived! In fact, it was wonderful! Can hardly believe that I now must wade back into the cesspool that is Trump‘s America, but I’m fortified for the battle ahead!

My three “little brothers” at the wedding last weekend of our niece. Wesley, the middle guy is the father of our Laura. My brother James on the right has gone a little Burl Ives on all of us and Howie on the other side has always been a dead ringer for Clark Gable What a wonderful happy day we had!

Literally, the first thing that you do when you get to Washington is rub Washington‘s nose. How many millions of Americans have done that. Where are they now?

These pictures line the wall of the tunnel of Congress to the capital. They are created by a school students who win a prize for competing. They are beautiful.

Washington’s bedroom at Mount Vernon. His bed is so short because he preferred to sleep sitting up in order not to disturb his attention.

The original Senate building, where spitoons were placed everywhere because everyone spat all over the carpet constantly

The picture of the signing of the declaration of independence in the capitol building where Jefferson is slightly standing on the toes of an opponent

The capitol rotunda, where Rosa Park statue stands proudly amongst every crate American. Americans raise the funds to put her there.

Monticello Jefferson’s Home, which he built without any formal frontal entrance because he wanted everyone to know that they could enter at any point

Last summer in DC with the family, ironically, when we all believed in the extraordinary foundation of this great nation. They can’t even explain what happened to them. I can. His name is Donald Trump, & he’s a dictator in waiting. They all see this as the reestablishment of our REAL religion

My sister is a beast! Survived 12 rounds of brutal chemo for pancreatic cancer. Now she’s headed off to MD Anderson for a month of more chemo and radiation, followed hopefully by surgery. No guarantees on any of it. But we siblings are sending her off with all the love, laughter & hope we’ve got🙏💕

Spent the weekend at my sister’s lake house, and this is the little tchotchke that came with the place. I so love this little thing, the gleam in his eyes! Just priceless!

So I’m not a mom, but today I got a beautiful lavender plant from the Chinese gal that moved over here to KY to be a teacher. She lives next-door. She knew nothing about our culture so I tried to help her find her way. So touched by her thoughtfulness. This is truly how we do cultural exchange!

Yes, we are in the world of doublespeak, George Orwell said it best. If there is no shared reality in America we are simply doomed. I don’t know how we get out of this when half the country wants it. It grieves me so deeply. For the first time in my life, I question my own country & its values 😔😣

I so agree! I read it a few times over the years but re-read it again when Trump was reelected. It is so terrifyingly prescient! Everyone should reread it now to remind themselves of what we are and what we will lose. It’s all about fury and it’s all about Fox News. They destroyed our nation.

That made me laugh, so sorry to disturb your peace! Here you go!

Just texting w one of my dearest friends, my mentor, my boss, Margaret Loesch, one of the greatest creators of children’s television that ever lived. My little ponies. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, that was all Margaret. A trip to Sedona a few years ago and it was so much fun to meet her people.
