I'm an artist, I talk about cetaceans, parrots, reptiles, pet ownership, zoos, conservation, rewilding, I'm pro-animal welfare (anti-AR)
It doesn't mean they don't deserve kindness and respect, but it shouldn't hurt as much for the gentle person to humanely butcher these for sustenance, as taking out a chicken or pig.

Also... don't go vegan.

The final hurdle for these more soft-hearted people, because this is a bird, but quail are arguably the most easy land-vertebrate to justify.
They are far less intelligent than chickens, and live only for 1-2 years max. Another case of "eat, poop, die".

Schooling fish. Fish that move in enormous schools in the ocean have low levels of sentience and individuality, as vertebrates go. They live only to eat, reproduce, and die.
Ethical concerns are more about overfishing than killing the individual.

Bivalves. The first animal that someone more sensitive should be okay to eat from an ethics standpoint, since their sentience is on the same level as plants.
Mass-production of mussels also helps clean the ocean.

Fish eggs. A separate category because we don't typically include them as "EGG eggs". They may be taken from a dead or live fish, but dead may be more ethical.
It then obviously falls into the same ethical concern as eating the flesh of fish, but the eggs are even more nutritious.

Eggs. From chicken, duck, muscovy, quail, and more. These are an obvious byproduct that the birds will lay regardless. It doesn't hurt them in any way, and you can buy them locally from a small farm, or keep your own "girls" as spoiled pets in your backyard.

Oh of course I forgot rabbits, which are more or less the staple diet of very large snakes (in captivity).
April 16, 2025 at 11:17 AM
Multiple different species of rodent (mouse, rat, ASF, gerbil, dwarf hamster) can be bred at large scale for snake food. Quail, pigeon or barbary dove, chicken of various ages, even finches can be added to substitute the diet of various species. (Of course depending on how easy they are to raise)

And it's not just anacondas. Snake owners need to stop feeding their animals only one type of prey. Especially, feeding arboreal or semi-arboreal snakes a diet of only rats.

In Sweden, dogs chase a random bear for miles, until it comes running out in a clearing, and *BAM* the hunter shoots wherever he can.
It's illegal to use dogs to hunt small prey like foxes and hare, but bears are still legally harassed like this.

This is unfortunately how bears are hunted in Sweden, as well.
I've seen bear hunting in the US and Canada where the hunter simply sits perched with a bow in a tree and waits for ages before the perfect old male comes, and he makes the perfect shot, straight through the heart. (1/2)

I can't see this exactly, but I go to settings > account > handle, and "change" it to the one I have, and the bug persists.
