My initial estimation was 8 months. And I really thought that I'm honest with myself 😅

Technically you didn't wrote that OD is being developed with Decima, but it's implied, even if unintentionally. So, just to be clear: OD is being developed with UE5 😉

Same here. But after a week I have no idea what it was all about 😅 In my case, "clarified ideas" must go into GDD, otherwise will be lost forever.

The difference between those two (beside obvious ones) is that 'PG' will stay, the other one will not 😊

I genuinely think that PG assets and content are the future of game dev and, possibly also, gaming in general.

People will see the difference once the 'AI' buzzword will slowly fade.

Absolutely! Node system is great, simple and clever.

I'm quite bitter woth Godot because I started a 2D game with it and I think like 2 straight years there were no 2D features added (even those promised)... 🙄

But, still think it's a great engine. When asked I'm mostly recommeding Godot 🙂

I think Godot started to chase its own success (similarly to UE).

There was a point in time where it wanted to become the second Unity. 2D was left behind almost completely (2D physics probably (?) not done till today).

Godot was really cool for 2D and it should develop that way, independently.

You're right, UE is mostly a commercial success since people believed that it can do more than other engines, but with less effort. There are a lot of half baked features + a lack of clear goal for the future...

Other engines are falling into that trap also (like Godot IMO).

Gamedev is weird 🙃

Great quote. It dangerously validates my own pursuits 😁 (and possibly excuses my own bad design decisions 🤔)

But I think it's more important now than ever, since 2024 broke another record when it comes to released Steam games.

So now we cannot argue about tabs and spaces, huh?

My proposal is that we will now start to argue about alignment, because I think this 'else' would look better on the left.

What is interesting, is that the "pro" game ideas are actually not that different from the "noobie" ones. Often it's only a matter of shifting it a little-bit or changing the accents. For example, cool lore is still cool even in a small game :-) often only the "mmo" part is an issue.
