I have yet to read any of Brandon Sanderson's work, but I do follow him on social for clear wisdom in the field.
I'll keep Cosmere in mind, as I inevitably pick up one of his books.

There's a fascinating dichotomy between relative hardships being real and the actual brutality of the world, not even a hundred years ago, being lost to the current generation.
