thank you! Creatures do all continue to update offscreen, I'm not sure if it would count as an ecosystem sim; I plot out a food web for each biome where each creature eats different stuff, though their behaviors are relatively simple. "Shifting" mainly refers to the world being procgen!

In Super Mario Odyssey, kicking things is Mario's highest priority, overriding all other actions. If a kickable object, such as a football, is thrown at Mario while he is asleep, he will momentarily wake up just to kick it before instantly going back to sleep.

I built my engine on top of the OS I built on the computer I built with the parts I designed. I create assets in software I made using a graphics tablet of my own design. All my playtesters are clones of myself. I am the one true solo dev.
