McCarthy has so many wonderful passages, his prose is pure poetry. Blood Meridian is his most visceral, but also his most beautiful

One is an economic philosophy that lends itself to demagogues who then commit horrific atrocities - on the basis of consolidation not ideology. With Nazism, however, the atrocities commit under it's watch are intrinsic to the ideology; baked into its principles. That is the key distinction.

It would be hugely popular, and would massively improve our Upper Chamber: potentially making it less partisan and giving our legislative process a much needed infusion of expertise that it's supporters claim it already provides.

It would require almost no effort for the government to simply expand the role of the Lords Appointment Committee to include all appointments.
