I have no idea what this means…

On work days, I always shower in the morning and almost always put on clothes that would be more or less okay in the last office I worked in (jeans and a t-shirt). It’s part of my “I’m working” mindset.

Occasionally the jeans give way to sweats, but that’s quite rare.

I got a Steelcase Gesture back in May. It was rather pricy, but overall it's been a good chair so far. Definitely recommend it if you can get it expensed through work. There are definitely better price points out there, but this was one of the top rated on several lists when I looked back then.

So sorry for your loss, Seán.

Outside! Outside! Outside!

(My wife and I still say this often when we are doing something like deciding if we want to eat on a restaurant patio)

If it piques your interest, please check it out. It's put on by some of my favorite internet entertainers, and I cannot recommend this event enough. It's so incredibly silly, and for such a fantastic cause, I always feel better after the run.

It starts 11/14, will be on 24/7 until 11/21-ish.

Hope you're doing well, Seán. If you don't mind, I'd love to share a ray of light against the dark.

An annual outpouring of kindness is starting its run next Friday afternoon at 3PM PST. It's a great reminder that there is still good in this world.

I got lucky and didn’t have any major side effects… just from where the pharmacist accidentally jabbed too deep. :-/

Current nonsense notwithstanding, what part of the US would you like to visit that you haven’t yet been to?

Similarly, what part of the world?

Maybe not the most educational podcast in the strictest sense, but if you're a fan of movie soundtracks, and music in general, I highly recommend The Soundtrack Show with David W. Collins. A bit of music theory, a bit of pop culture, and a lot of good movie music.

Whoops! Glad you found it though!

Trying to physically find an existing server? Or trying to find space to squeeze in a new one?

For us the motivation is that we know we’ll eat better, and be less stressed about *what* will be for dinner, if we put a little thought & effort into it.

Also, planning ahead lets us buy meat in bulk, throw it in the freezer, and defrost it when we need it, so we can save some money there. ;-)

We almost always cook more than we will eat in one meal, so we don’t have to cook each and every night. We also have a few meals we batch cook, like pulled pork or chili. We get many servings from those recipes, so some goes in the freezer for later, to save time & brain power later. :-)

The motivation for me & my wife is to take some of the stress out of the week, and keep us eating fairly healthy. We plan out our week’s meals so we know what we’re making what leftovers we’ll have when, and what we may need from the store.

I have been thinking this phrase a lot the last few days… “Pardonf*ck?”
August 7, 2025 at 1:28 AM
No idea, but I I hope you had a good & safe trip! :-)

Going for a bit of the Captain Pike look there, eh? ;-)

Then I’ll hope to catch you at one or both of those points in the future then! External factors permitting, of course. :-)

Rats, we’re not able to go this time around.

Any non-Vegas adventures planned for this next installment of “Where in the world is Seán Ferrick?” :-P

My brain went to Boros for the same reason… :-P

Also, regardless of the answer, my response to the poll question is “yes, have some”. ;-)

Are you thinking about any particular session or campaign length to target or shy away from? That may also impact price point.

Well, if it’s crazy to not use AI for programming assistance, you won’t be alone in the psych ward; I’ll be in the next padded room down the hall.

On top of all the known AI usage problems, I’ve seen enough from others’ AI results in my slice of tech (database) to know it’s just not worth it.
