I don't get angry much, because I'm mostly dead inside, but had some anger today watching the dump train move forward enough to let the dump people go home, but not just a few yards more to let the locals by. We had to wait. I guess thanks, dump, for making me feel again. And smell. It stunk #oregon

Stopped at Multnomah Falls on our way into town to see the extra falls from the crazy rain we've been having. It's normally not quiet, but they were making such a racket with all the additional flow. The path from the parking lot to the lodge had been totally submerged & partially washed out #oregon

Normally there is a massive rock at the base of this pool but it's completely covered in water with this high rain flow. Also there is a second falls dropping from a spot to the right of the original and joining it after that first drop. The background is early winter bare trees and dark rocks from rain, but lots of color from the bright green moss and all the freshly felled trees busted open by this storm, a deep vivid orange. landscape photo of the little bridge that crosses the stream below Multnomah Falls, taken from the falls side looking toward the parking lot, I-84, and the Washington shore line across the river. The bridge is low, just enough clearance for people to pass under, and a path normally goes under it to the east of the stream it covers, but the high water rose and covered the path, leaving it in many inches deep of mud after it receded, and taking a good deal of the pavement and support with it, so that part of the path is constructed of dirty sandbags. Several people carefully pass through.

Went into town to see Knowledge Fight live. That was fun. Stopped in Gresham for some home brew supplies and found a pair of shoes and a nice cup of coffee and shit falafel. What a stomach ache from that falafel. After the show found pretty lights in Brooklyn and at Potato Champ (got fries too).

Began this some time ago, but found it hard to make time for creativity. Had the fortune of being invited to Sun River for a weekend to art & drink (coffee) & catch up with a friend. Friend did not mind when I stunk the place up cooking after I could not find a burger store #PeterIredale #painting

These are pics i took of the spit this summer. Neatest thing because it's one of the few places you can go to just walk on out into, nay, past, the middle of the river, without being on a bridge or barge or what have you. Last week, when the wet storm hit, I was in Milwaukie, so I ran around that morning taking pictures, mostly of the water levels, but also graffiti and other art. This storm was interesting because it never felt like a storm, it was just a consistent, insistent rain for days. #oregon #stream
outlet for Kellogg Lake taken from the sewage treatment/waterfront park bridge between the lake and the Willamette. Water volume is drastically bigger than usual, so what is normally a stream looks like a significant waterfall. The cement chambers of the passage under McLoughlin Blvd have an eerie lit from within quality in this pre dawn moment, its walls covered in graffiti. The city is lit up behind this scene, the sky light steel blue. Creepy little waterfall that runs along old Milwaukie elementary and flows under the street to fill Ledding Pond. The waterfall itself, just about a five foot drop and contained in banks that keep it about 2.5 feet wide, is not exceptional, just a flow of white water, but the pond at its base is so full it is almost level to the grass verge around it. Cannot emphasize how creepy this little water feature is. It's like a sinkhole, a small hole filled up with water with the appearance of an endless drop. Ivy grows over the shoulders of the rocks that border the falls, and trees line the stream that flows toward the falls. The sky a grey in the background. Picture almost entirely of Kellogg lake's brown flood water, though a bit of the flooded banks are visible in the upper left corner of the photo where a land structure has the appearance of a dock with the new higher water levels. Rain pocks the surface of the water, and in the front center of this picture is a gathering of water weeds floating just below the surface in the shape of a question mark. Art in the little strip of grass next to Kellogg Lake and behind the old post office. It's a sculpture, a tall post with a metal snowflake or atomy type of arrangement with shiny metal balls.

Barely been home the past few weeks, going from 1 place to another & finding spots to run in each place. Got invited to Sun River for a couple days & put in 15 from Benham Falls East Trailhead to Lava Lands & back. Everything was beautiful, the trees, the rocks, the sky, everything #oregon #running

Did not get out of the house much on Turkey day but did go for a short walk on the creek to look for neat rocks as they are much easier to spot when the rocks are wet, & they were wet. Won't be running water in the creek for at least a month, so I couldn't wash these off that's why they're so gunky.

I made sweet potato rolls for Thanksgiving instead of my usual fruit and saffron rolls. These were very good. Also made butter rolls, and those were very good also. Not every year is a double win on the rolls.

One of my favorite pictures of Howard because it shows how enormous he is, as I am the banana here, for scale, and it shows how close the two of us are; so often, if I lie down, it is only a matter or moments before he is there trying to find a spot on top of or beside me. #cats #TabbyCat

An enormous tabby cat is a belly pillow to a tuxedo cat who has his little cat arm around the tabby's tum, his eyes closed, happy and peaceful for such a little shit. The tabby is poised to clean the other cat's head because it is apparently unacceptably filthy. Been wanting to paint for a while and not had time but sat on the floor the other night while Trick of Treat, a real goose of a movie, was on, and started working on this canvas I got at St. Vincent's. Cat have weird shoulders. #art #cats

Here I am at The Darkness show at Revolution Hall in Ptld. There were a lot of old people there and I now have to reckon with the truth I might also be old people. Great show though, charismatic opener, and The Darkness were fab.

My Senator (Jeff Merkley) is pretty awesome. And I think he's a rarity in that. He is diligent and committed to representing the people of Oregon. But he also has tips on where to get in a good trail run. Get yourself a senator like that. (Or be that senator.)

Other things on my Lincoln City run. There are a lot of stairs to run up in Lincoln City. Oysters wear gloves and boots in Taft, but not pants. Shower nozzle in Nelscott reminded me of something. And the historical museum in Taft would be scary at night. #running #oregon #RobotPeen

Beautiful highlights of my Lincoln City run. Was expecting rain, got sun toward the end, and had to fun in the surf to stay cool. Artsy sidewalk in Delake, tiny forest with path in Nelscott, Siletz Bay, and a rock on the beach at Taft.
This walk wraps around the cultural center or something like that in Delake in Lincoln City. It's right on the lake, and right next to the campground and right on 101. The picture is of a sidewalk and at the bottom are two feet in bright purple running shoes and the sidewalk has been embedded with a mosaic of what looks like broken safety glass which has the color of really pretty blue water, so the sidewalk looks like flowing water sort of. Foggy light sneaks in a young forest of beach evergreens that tower over a needled path surrounded by moss and ferns and undergrowth. It's bright and gloomy all at once, and very green. A stump sticks out of the shallow high tide at Siletz Bay, on which grow fostered new trees. The whole thing is reflected in the water and distorted by muted wave action. The sky and water are grey. Dark basalt stone weathered by the ocean and in the shape of a smooth heart nestled in the fine sand of Lincoln City, speckled by a fleck of sea foam.

All the Halloween deco is down now, and Fall stuff is up instead, or getting up. I am late in doing something with these pics. I am often late. I am that person. Time is like a turtleneck, it's okay I guess, but feels constrictive. #Halloween #skulls #bones

Fall pictures. I got home from a run and picked the last of the King apples for the last batch of applesauce. My life this past month has been making applesauce and raking pine needles. That's grand. And it's close to mid November and we still have a few lovely roses hanging on. #gardening #autumn

This is Steve French and his brother Bubbles Purrmonster, and they don't really like each other. #cats #GreyBoys
Steve French, a good boy, a majestic mountain lion of a grey cat, sits in a dry creek bed, his back to us, but turning so we can see his deep yellow orange eyes. The creek bed is deep and has banked sides covered with autumnal golden grasses and the brown stems of shrubs bereft of leaves. In the distance the sun is making to set and the sky is going from pale blue to other colors. Bubble Purrmonster, a fluffy nutter of a grey country cat poses like a pouncing cat on a rock overlooking a dry creek bed. All around him are dry stalks of grass and the cloudy sky behind him looks as grey as himself and the rocks in front of him. Steve sits in the dry creekbed, his back to us, center right, as Bubbles, center left, cautiously approaches, one foot way extended toward Steve. You can tell by the look on Bubble's face that these two grey cats are not the best of friends. Dry grass, leafless trees, and blue sky are behind them.

Hard to chose just 4 pics for this, wish Bsky allowed for more. Ran to the river and back on a rainy day that turned sunny. Water's low enough I could access this bar and rockhound a little, but found nearly nothing but exceptional views. Jeez it was gorgeous #Rocks #Oregon #Running #JohnDayRiver

The river is just a sliver at the bottom right and then widens to take up most of the frame up to the middle of the photo. it reflects the sky and the distant hills.
