Pictured is a patch of green moss growing on tree bark. The moss is quite damp after a recent rain. It grows close to the bark and the growth resembles stacks of delicate, tiny, round leaves. The growth of this moss reminds me of succulents, in a way. Pictured is another type of green moss growing on the same tree bark. The short strands are spiky, the ends shaped like a starburst, but the overall appearance is much like that of a shocked cat’s tail. There is also a spotty patch of lichen in the middle of the photo. It’s a pretty, pale minty green that is white at its edges.

Pictured is a turtle that is halfway hiding in its shell. Its head is poking out just enough to see its red eyes and a mouth that has been stained reddish-purple from dewberry juice. Its shell is mostly dark brown, with just a couple patches of light brown scattered atop. The shell is very weathered and marred - it looks like a larger animal may have chewed on it, judging by some of the shell’s damage, or this turtle may have fought others. (This turtle was returned to its original location, unharmed, immediately after taking this picture.)

Pictured is a Brachypelma auratum. The photo was taken roughly a week after her last molt. She is a black tarantula with some light banding on her legs. Her most noticeable feature are the pop of orange color on her “knees” that resemble flames. Think of candle flames! She is perched above her burrow, hanging out on a piece of cork bark.

I have no idea who wrote this but consider it saved online forever and ever because it’s so good. also I would prep the wax paper first because u need to move Quickly when you take that mix of melted sugar and peanut butter off the heat lol

The written recipe and instructions are as follows: Cornflake Candy 1 cup sugar 1 cup karo syrup 1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring 2 tablespoons butter 1 cup crunchy peanut butter 7 cups cornflakes Mix sugar & karo in large boiler. Bring to a boil. Add butter & vanilla flavoring. Remove from heat. Add peanut butter. Mix well. Stir corn flakes in. Butter wax paper & drop by spoonfuls on wax paper.

Pretty sure the green sphagnum will overtake all the red and gold, but whatever I’m just happy it’s taking hold and growing quickly

Pictured is a venus flytrap, this one being dubbed “Dire Wolf” for the shape of its teeth. The picture is a little grainy and tinted yellow from the overcast evening light. The VFT has a dozen or more traps, many of them being light green with a reddish interior. The larger traps with more prominent teeth display their namesake - the teeth become thicker and a little gnarly, resembling a canine’s teeth. The VFT is surrounded by moss in its pot.

Found her growing in a half-rotten, hollow stump.. idk who she is but I’m very impressed.
Pictured is a white fungus growing amidst fallen twigs and hardwood leaves. The stalks look to grow in clusters, and each stalk branches out to form lumpy, upright “fingers.”

Cubaris sp. “White Shark” which has origins in Thailand. Very cool isopods, but they’re on the smaller side, shy, and fossorial so I rarely get to see them!!
A Cubaris isopod that is known as a White Shark in the hobby. Pictured is a single specimen surrounded by dirt on a rock. Its body has different bands of colors, and the color banding on this particular isopod is as follows: the head is orange followed by a thick white band, a thin dark grey band, another small band of orange, and the butt is white!

A small pumpkin patch tarantula sling, scientific name hapalopus formosus, in 40 dram vial. She’s halfway hiding in her burrow that runs beneath a single fake ivy leaf. A white shell is placed in her enclosure to act as a water dish.

I guess this is going to be a springtail mcmansion for now since I don’t have a tarantula big enough for an enclosure this size. Fingers crossed that the plants and moss do well bc it will look much better if they grow a bit!

Cleaned and organized 2 shelves and they look so good, it’s really giving my brain a buzz
2 well lit shelves. The top shelf contains isopods, springtails, and spiders neatly. The bottom shelf shows my growing collection of indoor plants and a tray for moss.
