Alright, the calendars are live. Prices are the same as last year, and to start things off, I am having a promo Saturday and Sunday. I hope you like it, I tried to find photos that look a little different than your regular bird calendar. Feel free to share away 🙂 tinyurl.com/ykvmrhhc%E2%...

The electricity company cleared out trees this summer, and since I haven't seen any Flying Squirrels recently, I thought maybe their grounds had been destroyed. However - at least one is here! These guys are so much fun to watch, I am so happy they are still around.

Goodbye to this week and hello to the new week with a calm little Junco. I love all the feather detail around the eye, these birds are just such a joy to have around. We are expecting more winter weather here, and I am delighted because it just gets me more into holiday mood. #birds

More Cardis - the young male is a regular now and trying to find his footing in the community of the yard. The female is an adult (her beak is all red), and always has her male watching over her. I am so happy we have Cardinals here, their colors help with permacloud times ❤️ #birds

I know I am being a bit ridiculous here but I find it totally amazing that you can see their breath here 😆 (around the middle of the clip, I slowed it down a bit). Stay warm, everyone! #corvids 🐦🪶

Trees are habitat, and they can be a great spot to set the scene for winter bird watching. I alternate bark butter with peanut butter, and it is fun to see who comes to visit. There seems to be a fierce battle mostly between Juncos and Nuthatches this year. I like this angle because 🐦

Another very loyal backyard species are the House Finches. I love how the males can come in all kinds of beautiful shades of red and orange (depending on what they eat), and how social these birds are. You barely ever see one by itself. #birds

Swarm knowledge needed. I currently use #Later to schedule posts, and so far I have paid 15 bucks a month for this. I only use it for Meta platforms, and I mostly enjoyed being able to share files between my phone and the computer through it. Now they are raising costs, and I

They are compact, diligent, vocal, adorable little guys who visit feeders year-round and will also nest in the most unusual spots like garden pumps (check my feed for videos from this summer) - Blackcapped Chickadees. 🐦🪶

It is nuthatch season, and this fall and winter, the Red-breasted Nuthatches are visiting again. they are feisty little birds that are a lot of fun to watch and listen to (think beatbox), and they love the peanut butter on the tree. #birds 🐦🪶

The Fox Sparrow is still around, feeding and defending his table. I am thankful for all these little creatures that live around here to bring joy and entertainment, and that I am able to share them with the world. Thank you also for being here, enjoying them with me. A happy Thanksgiving day to

As a native German, I will always be fascinated by hummingbirds. We do not have these little miracles there, so I still kind of remember seeing my very first one here in the US. After a slow start, the season went very well in 2025, and September was one of the best months to watch them. I have tons

Just like last fall I am trying my luck with the tree again. So far, I have not seen any Flying Squirrels yet, but others are visiting, at night as well as during the day. And I think there is a baby Red Squirrel here 😍 An adult can be seen at the end.

Spicy Goldfinches and a very round heart-stealer (Titmouse). There is enough for everyone, I have no idea why some birds just seem to never get along at the feeder. 🐦🪶

Here are May, June, July and August of my 2026 calendar, a Blue Jay, a House Finch, a Grosbeak and a Red-bellied Woodpecker. Thank you to everybody who bought a calendar so far, I really appreciate it ❤️ Since the national shopping spree is upon us, I will do another sale as well. And this time,

Some visitors at the tree are very opinionated 😆 (I lowered the volume of the Blue Jay but he's still a screemer.) Loved the Donwy Woodpecker lady, even though I have no idea what she complained about. #birds

It's been mentioned elsewhere but this winter we may have an irruption year for some species. Just like the Red-breasted Nuthatches, I also do not see Pine Siskins every year. But yesterday, a flock came over to the bird bath. Now I am silently hoping

A fun new visitor today - this handsome bird is a Fox Sparrow. He spent a lot of time feeding on the ground, and I also saw him in person - he was not shy at all! And a lot bigger than I anticipated, about the size of a Cardi but chunkier. I hope he sticks around for a bit. 🐦🪶 #birds

This is one of the young Cardis from this summer. You can tell by his not yet red beak and the plumage with still some of the brownish baby feathers. I love this guy, he is not shy around feeders and baths. This scene tonight was so pretty with the sun and the fall colors. 🐦

I decided to check on the Swallowtail caterpillar and made a timelapse yesterday to see how it is doing. The movements are faint and this is sped up, obviously, but the little love is alive and well, it seems, dreaming of spring...

Some people who feed the birds have a love-hate relationship with squirrels. They like the same food, and when they can access a feeder, they will. The good thing is, baffles do work to keep them out and the budget balanced. How can you be mad at these guys 💓 The last one cracked me up so much 😆

It was a mild day, so there wasn't a lot of traffic at the feeders. But I had one cam on the ground, and that was well-visited. Funnily enough a Downy and a Red-bellied Woodpecker checked it out. Because of their stubby legs, they do not like to be close to the ground. #birds 🪶🐦

Birdwatching is so much fun because things change a lot throughout the year but every stage is fun. I haven't seen a lot of Titmice all year but they are returning to feeders now. They are one of my favorite birds, so I am stoked to see them. Now if the Bluebirds would please also get the clue...🐦

I tried my luck with a timelapse video of the aurora last night too. There were less clouds but you can still only see a glimpse. Photo below.

Good morning. Work has been a bit crazy this week so I haven't found a lot of time to go through footage but here is something to calm the nerves. The MoDos love to hang out by the heated bath, and sometimes do it for extended periods. Like those snow monkeys in the hot springs in Japan 😆 #birds
November 13, 2025 at 3:39 PM
The snow was so nice, there's room for another clip 🙂 This is was #CaughtonBirdfy. I mounted one of the cams close to the ground to see if it worked outside the feeder, and it was quite nice today. Last two were my favorite snapshots it took. 🐦🪶
