Oh 100% I'm in the same boat. I never got into Vine and have only opened TikTok a few times, there's some good stuff but even with the algorithm pretty well dialled it's mostly just aggressively mediocre. I love long form - it's just so much more enjoyable and full of personality imo.

Every time I watch a video of an artist talking about everything they do to run their businesses I feel sorry for them. Like bravo for the hard work but also are you alright 😭 that pressure destroyed my ability to draw at all, I can't imagine keeping it up as my livelihood.

I refuse to use AI as much as possible. I'm glad my work can't use it so I won't be forced. I can make and manage my own shit, thank you 😤

To be fair, that's not what TikTok is for, it's kinda silly to try to have nuanced discussions on there. There are plenty of multi-hour video essays on YT that do just fine and allow for longer comments and I almost always see good discussion there. Different apps for different things. /neu

I recently slipped back into the community after almost a decade away & it is so much more accepting now. A lot of the most famous cosplayers are in their 30s, the cosplay destination room in the con I booth babed at was 90% 30+. If you want to you definitely should ❤️
