Let’s not block bike infrastructure because some people can’t operate a bike. There are options for people.

Just like some people who can’t walk can use wheelchairs on sidewalks, cars can be modified to accommodate disabilities. so can other small scooters or trikes or other similar options.

My point about “not being designed with everyone in mind” is reality. People with certain disabilities cannot operate cars. Bikes, e-bikes, scooters, and similar small transportation also do not need to be designed for everybody to operate.

Reconfiguring car centric infrastructure to include segregated bike lanes and reclaiming parking spaces et al is not at the expense of accessibility. If anything it provides more space for freedom of movement and safety.

Car centric design is more dangerous for those with and without disabilities

Having more space for pedestrians to move or sit vs parked cars on streets is a +

Having separate infrastructure tailored to slower speeds on bikes or other small slower transportation options is a +

A less car centric society is safer and cleaner and more pleasant, including for the disabled.

Cycling doesn’t have to work for everybody just like driving a car doesn’t have to work for everybody.

But it would be objectively better to have more people on bikes, including e-bikes or scooters or trikes than the status quo where motorists get priority. Crossing the street is potentially deadly

And blaming this on “men” is really unnecessary. There are plenty of women who also dress up like they are in the “Tour de France” and all of them seem to regularly ignore traffic laws and blasting through stop signs and lights etc.

Again, the problem is lack of bike friendly networks not gender.

I hope opinions like this don’t prevent further adoption of bike friendly infrastructure.

The main issue is that society is designed for cars, and occasionally people. With more bike friendly design, you will not have the conflict where bikes are too slow for cars but too fast for pedestrians.

Not sure what the solution is in a world where ad revenue runs the internet. Also data harvesting.

We are the product.
