The trouble is the more they battle , the more experience they get. The fight left the Elk beast weakened but still just as deadly. Taking a risk I sent a squad in to do battle. Some would not survive. But I had a swordsdwarf get lucky and finally slay the foul beast

I like Dwarf fortress!!
crazy crazy fun! I once had an Elk Beast terrorize the caverns and slay many dwarves. It even took on a forgotten beast and won!
