I encourage our leader to celebrate the usual way: with a Quarter Pounder, Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, and large fries. Must eat all to have dessert. Too bad they don't fry the apple pie in lard.

I would love a "mute for 24 hours" button when folks start scolding their annoying followers again and again and again when I've not said a damn thing.

If you find yourself doing that, maybe take a break?

When I mute someone for this reason, I usually forget to unmute.

And a happy new year to all that is living
To all that is gentle, kind, and forgiving
Raise your glass and we'll have a cheer
My dear acquaintance, a happy new year

Watching "Extra Terrestrial Visitors" (aka "Pod People") in Spanish, with subtitles, because I am a cinephile.

OK, OK. Not saying this album is my favorite of the '90s, but it is up there. Richard Lloyd on guitar. (The guitar parts on the album were shared by Lloyd and Richard Quine.)

Why doesn't Carol Sturka ask the aliens to allow her to bypass their very long message after she's heard it? You know, "Press 7 to leave a message" or something.

Heading home; Taylor's condition has been stabilized.
Spending Christmas morning at the emergency vet. Not great.

I’m doing Secret Satan this year. We all put our names in a hat and secretly torment each other. I have been given leprosy which is making it very hard to tempt my friend with an apple.

Is there a decent-looking/sounding copy of 1952's "Scrooge" -- the version of "A Christmas Carol" with Alistair Sim -- streaming anywhere?

It's PD (I think, anyway), and the copies on YouTube that I've found are dire.

took the day off work to perform my annual christmas ritual: wandering around in a fugue state buying little knickknacks for everyone in my family at random because if I don’t spend even more money everybody will feel like I don’t love them enough

Anyone want to guess how many IMDb acting credits Eric Roberts has for 2025?

I believe I have a decent sense of direction, but every once in a while, something happens that makes me realize that is far from true.

Astonished that Vinegar Syndrome has released Joe Dante's 1968 collage film, "The Movie Orgy." Did it really clear all the clips? Or is it just hoping for the best? (I was hoping my copy would arrive yesterday, but no such luck.) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Mov...

I've never visited a presidential library, and I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to visit one.

I miss the "Oh No, Ross and Carrie" podcast. I thought that Ross's follow-up would have started by now.

Absolutely nuts that you can't share YouTube Premium with your spouse without paying for the family plan ($22.99), which is only a few bucks less than twice an individual plan ($13.99 x 2 = $27.98) The family plan lets you add 5 folks living at the same address -- well, I don't have kids, so F that.

I've never experienced a streaming site with worse search capabilities than Hoopla. There's a lot of great stuff there, but I have to use an external search site in order to find what I'm looking for there -- search on Hoopla itself is near useless.

The thought of watching a more-than-4-hour film by Tarantino in a theater sounds like my idea of hell.

(If it's your thing, go for it--people like what they like!)

Time for the annual resharing of the Christmas episode of "The Jack Benny Show"! That's Mel Blanc as the salesman, and the show has a surprisingly dark punchline. youtu.be/ypPX7OUbWWg?...
