Become a patron and support the saga! The klaxon wails through the docking hub, as the freighter Ashfall shudders into Berth 9, hull scorched and trailing sparks from ruptured conduits. The docking clamps bite down with a metallic shriek, and the bay floods with the stink of burned plating and leaking coolant. The airlock hisses open. A ragged stream of refugees spills out - wide-eyed, coughing, clutching what few belongings they still have.

The Helix Plague shattered more than empires - it wrecked the scaffolding of civilization. Billions died, star systems fell silent, and countless machines were abandoned in the dark. Among the survivors of this collapse were the artificial intelligences: the digital minds that ran starships, managed cities, and kept fragile organic life alive in the cold void. Today, they’re as vital - and as feared - as ever.

After a few hours, Newt comes back out of the aircon vent of times long past and heads for Blot, taking a tablet out of his backpack. "Hey, Blot!" The heavy-set merchant's mouth crooks into a half-smile as the boy approaches. "Hey, gramps, how you doing?" Newt rolls his eyes.

A Nall, from appearances, dressed in a pair of simple pants, a white shirt, and a black vest covered with pockets containing anything from small tools to writing implements. Perched over his eyes are a pair of goggles ready to be pulled into place at a moment's notice.

A stuttering wail rose from the dashboard like a child crying in machine-code. Her crash harness tightened automatically, yanking the air from her lungs as her pod pitched sideways, then down. Something outside groaned with the tortured metal sound of a ship entering an atmosphere it wasn’t meant to survive.

Support OtherSpace on Patreon Far from Iron's End, Galactix orbits a dead world as he rests his space frame, having just refueled from a nebula along the way to the system. To pass the time, he is reading through his historical records as his sensors scan long range. It is usually monotonous, but this day, something grabs his attention: an explosion, one so powerful it could be detected faintly even at his distance.

Cygnari remains on the run with fugitives from Strel Varnak, warchief of the Rustborn. Brody played the other characters in the scene: The ship lurches slightly as the Lucky Talon slides out of the realm of OtherSpace and back into normal space. As the ship's braking thrusters take hold, the ship settles into a gentle orbit around a world that appears rather Earth-like.

The Lucky Talon has departed Iron's End, and is accelerating toward light speed as a warthog of a starship drops out of OtherSpace, bristling with metallic spikes and armed with multiple cannon arrays. A voice comes across all common frequencies within range: "Lucky Talon: Halt and prepare to be boarded - on orders of the mightiest of the Rustborn warlords, Strel Varnak.

A few hours after the confrontation with Sereta in The Shambles, the "overnight" shift has kicked in aboard Iron's End. Marshal Dorian Rake accompanies four people toward the Lucky Talon: A woman with a sleeping infant cradled in her arms, Kye Solvan, and their guardian, Jasper.

The inaugural scene of the reinvigorated OtherSpace MUSH kicks off what I hope becomes an interesting story arc. It starts off as a simple bounty hunting mission to find a thief who's made off with stolen goods from The Shambles marketplace aboard Iron's End. But, as tends to happen, it grows more complicated. Regular player characters in the scene include: Cygnari, Newt, Rosalyn, and Sefra.
