It’s a real shame it’s been sold and the public art is in question; more distressing is that just as we’re trying to reinvigorate the downtown, bring more housing, this much loved and used library branch will disappear, making it harder for the public to access public space.

We end at stunning main branch of the OPL; air rights sold above were planned to allow library to expand into it; lease is nearly up/close but decision made to build new; library sold as part of economics of funding new.

Many DT building creates colonnades at ground level to attract and welcome the public, inspired by traditional colonnades in Europe. They are challenged as driveways and other services and access points interrupt the flow of pedestrians.
