Also agree that the big choice between Manfred and lichdom is pretty weak in terms of why that’s the choice at all. Manfred feels more like extra weight on the scale for refusing lichdom, but it’s kind of a cheap appeal to the player’s affection for Manfred otherwise unrelated to Emmrich’s goals.

I totally agree with all of this, Manfred (and Spite too) is just kind of a silly little guy and I love him from that dimension but not as a serious exploration of spirits. Spite more than Manfred, but it def feels like one of those good ideas that got lost in the Pivot.
