I'm having a lot of fun with this fic!! And after being in such a writing slump recently it feels sooo refreshing

(Things are finally heating up👀)
Ed’s eyes crinkle in a knowing but non-judgmental smile. “Have you got that out of your system?” It's not said nastily like some people might say – namely his father – it’s said in a way to give Stede the choice to make light of a stupid situation. And he takes it. With eager hands. “Sorry, yes, I get a little tongue tied when attractive people called Ed speak to me, it’s a medical condition.” “Aw shucks, and here I was thinking I was special. How many attractive Eds do you often meet?” “Well, this month alone, probably three or four. There’s certainly a winner though.” “Oh yeah?” Ed quirks his brow and leans in a little closer. Stede can’t help but sway a little closer too, drawn in by the magnetic pull of the other man that seems to get stronger as the seconds tick by. “Mm. He has kind eyes, a beautiful face, a lovely beard, a great personality, a voice that can make anyone drop to their knees in an instant…” “Is that so?” Ed’s voice comes out even deeper than usual, sensual, possibly a little strained too. Stede looks into the man’s half lidded eyes and feels as though he’s falling all over again, but this time he’d happily keep falling forever. “Yes.” “And would you?” “What?” “Drop to your knees.” Stede pauses, a sort of record scratch moment as the words sink in. His heart races, hands growing sweaty. He takes a shuddering breath, his eyes flick from Ed's right eye to his left and back again trying to gauge if it's a joke or a genuine question. He comes back with nothing, but what does it matter? He may only have this one chance, so may as well go for it. He nods, a small, barely there thing, secretive, not meant to be told. But oh how he loves the high of telling someone a secret. “Yes” he whispers, an edge of desperation clinging to it like a lifeline, “In a heartbeat.”

“Wow, you really are the most oblivious person ever.” Lucius says, looking at him with a sort of dumbfounded curiosity. Stede's wide eyes snap back to the younger man as a wild jumbling frenzy of feelings starts to grow in his belly. Nerves? Excitement? IBS? Lust? Who knows… “Why the hell didn't you tell me?” He hisses, grabbing Lucius by the arm and walking away from a group of people trying to get to the bar. “Because I knew you wouldn't come. You seem hell-bent on making your life more difficult than it needs to be and an event like this could help you, and sure, your crush is here and that's all very scary, but there’s a high chance you won't even get within 5 metres of him because, no offence, you’re not exactly special or high up on the list of people he would want to see. So grow up, get over yourself and go talk to people.” He takes in a deep breath before continuing. “You can fire me now.” Stede face screws up in annoyance, god, he really could fire the boy right now. He won't though, at least not yet. “Fine, I’ll go talk to people. But I'm not happy about this.” “You never are.” Stede jolts out of his increasingly inappropriate thoughts as soon as he realises that the Edward Teach is there. Right. There. And though he has his back to Stede, he’d recognise that hair anywhere, and the slope of his shoulders, and the shape of his bum in tight, tailored trousers– look he’s not obsessed he’s just seen pictures, that’s all. It’s the laugh though, a resonant chuckle that has Stede clenching certain parts of himself. To hear it in person in such close proximity is something of a dream, a particularly wet one at that. And oh, Stede is so, so fucked.
