We bought a new blackcurrant bush today to replace the one that died. Look at all that fruit! I can't wait to make blackcurrant curd 😋

We also bought a new blackberry bush to go with the tayberry bush that is fruiting really well this year ☺️

Just realised I haven't posted in ages. Life has been incredibly hectic and I couldn't gather the energy to post.

So here, have a look at the first berries of the year for us - strawberries and tayberries. Yum 😋

I'll try to share some more updates soon.

We had to pop to the neighbouring village to go to the post office, and passed a house selling plants for 50p each 😃

We got sweetcorn, courgette, fiery chilli, lemon mint, cornflower, and marigold for £4 - absolute bargain!

These are going to fill up some spaces nicely 😊

We finished planting up the pots today, Thea swept up all the stones our teenage son has scattered everywhere 😂, and I found greenfly on the climbing rose. Quite the day!

Here's a little peek at our front garden. It's a bit wild at the moment, but I love how it is coming along ☺️

Did our weekly food shop at Lidl and they had tons of bedding plants for £4.99 each, perfect for filling our pots 😊

In previous years I've tried to grow from seed or bought plug plants to keep costs low, but I've not been able to this year, so these are perfect for filling in gaps!

Spent my birthday morning finally putting plants my friend gave me last year into pots 😃

Still got a LOT of work to do in the garden, but it feels good to make some progress 😊

We haven't been able to get in the garden much this past week, so it was wonderful to come out today and see all the fruit blossom opening up, the magnolia flourishing (it was half dead when we bought it), and all the insects everywhere 🐝

We've been moving pots around, to create new, plantable areas. I'm hoping that keeping them in groups and planting lots of perennials, will make this more accessible for me. They need a good weeding and lots of fresh compost next.

Tell me, what are your favourite low maintenance plants for pots?

Haha, brilliant 😂
WORLD-FIRST: Ground-breaking research published today in the Ornithologist Journal has, for the first time, translated common UK bird vocalisations into equivalent phrases in the human language.

The results tell us a lot!

We need to buy a load of compost to top up pots and fill others. Normally we grab some at the garden centre, but are wondering if there's a better option. Does anyone in the UK use a particular supplier for getting it in bulk?

Started tackling the herb garden today. A particularly bad year healthwise means the garden was pretty much untouched last year, so it needs a LOT of TLC.

As I removed fennel from where it shouldn't be, I decided to plant them in hope they can go to a plant sale where my dad volunteers.

Going through old garden photos and was reminded of the year I tried to sow enough seeds to fill all the pots my uncle used to for both front and back garden.

This was just a selection of what I ended up with. I quickly realised it wasn't sustainable for me to try and so that many, but it was fun.

Here's a little peek into our back garden. We have a sizeable plot, both in front & back, but it's slow progress due to health issues. So far we have:

1: A little grove of pot grown fruits
2: A climbing rose
3: A raised herb garden

Welcome to Our Garden Getaway 😊

We (@aspiraldance.bsky.social and @theajane.bsky.social) needed a place to step away from the world where our lives are up for debate, and what better place than our garden?

We'll be using this account to share our dreams for this space, updates, and just natter 😊
