Honored to spend time with friends and partners at the Ruby Sachs Symposium in Winnipeg.

The most meaningful work often happens between sessions — over dinner, in conversation, and through shared purpose. 🌈

The FY26 NDAA should strengthen our common defense — not politicize it. Policies that limit who can serve weaken the all-volunteer force that keeps America secur

We’ve got each other’s backs, and together we keep going. We carry the memory of those who suffered fear and exclusion, and we refuse to let it happen again. #OutInNatSec

To every #LGBTQIA+ public servant and ally: your service makes America stronger.

There are more of us than there are of them.

Bigotry weakens national security. We will secure accountability for those who weaponize it, because trust, talent, and service are too important to lose. #OutInNatSec

We are rooted in this community and grow from it. We protect each other, and together we will fight the scare, protect the community, secure accountability, and change the law. 🌈✊ #OutInNatSec

#LGBTQIA+ public servants and allies know they’re not alone. Their service and contributions make America safer and stronger.

This is a Second Lavender Scare. Firing someone for a Pride flag is an attack on public service and the national security enterprise. Bigotry has no place in America, and we cannot allow fear to drive talent away from serving openly.

🚨 Last night we learned: FBI Director Kash Patel fired a trainee agent for displaying a Pride flag at their desk. This is blatant discrimination. via @advocate.com

Pride flags don’t threaten national security — bigotry does.

We will keep working with allies and partners to combat discrimination and build a stronger natsec enterprise through reforms to law, custom, and policy. #OutInNatSec

To #LGBTQIA+ public servants: you are not alone. We see you. We stand with you.

We are here to protect, grow, and build, no matter what. 🌈✊ #OutInNatSec

The fear undermines morale, trust, and our national security strength. It makes no one safer and the nation isn’t stronger for it

Public servants should never fear retaliation for showing pride or solidarity or living up to that high American value “out of many, we are one.”
outinnationalsecurity.org
This is a new “Second Lavender Scare.” It’s not about one person it’s about silencing LGBTQ+ public servants and driving them out of the federal government.
outinnationalsecurity.org
Federal guidance is clear: if agencies allow religious/secular symbols, they shouldn’t ban secular identity symbols like the Pride flag.
outinnationalsecurity.org
The firing letter never mentioned the flag — just accused the agent of “poor judgment.” It came on day one of a government shutdown.

A free and fair open society and even its domestic intelligence service, should not be afraid of it, citizens expressing their identities or their support for one another.

The NDAA isn’t just policy on paper. It decides whether servicemembers can access healthcare, whether cadets can graduate, and whether #LGBTQIA families are treated as equal citizens.
