Project Helga's propulsion is a dual mode ABEP (Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion) ion thrusters, and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) electric plasma scramjet hybrid system utilizing ionic liquids for propellent and Lorentz forces, which allows for efficient flight at both subsonic and hypersonic speeds.

A new era in power human flight is upon us and Overby Industries is determined to be the first to accomplish the worlds first human powered electric plasma jet power aircraft, and spacecraft.

Project Helga's propulsion in addition to it's MHD core, will also use dual mode ABEP (Air-Breathing Electric Propulsion) ion thrusters. The ABEP ion thrusters provide efficient propulsion for subsonic flight and are used for orbital maneuvers and in-space propulsion.

The Overby propulsion core operates as a dual‑function magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) channel in which a conductive working medium—either plasma generated from captured solar wind ions or vaporized ionic‑liquids—is > accelerated through a strong magnetic field.
