my local theater where i used to live does a ghibli marathon every year. it fuckin rules

"stricter or more frequent driving tests" is not the answer. these people could be perfectly competent drivers when asked to. they would actually lock in for the test and then return to road raging in a F-150 at 105 mph. the problem is reckless driving, not unskilled driving.

i spent years undoing my mom's slop-consuming behavior. now she has a hobby (oil painting) she is very passionate about and getting quite good at! and she established a new music taste based on the things she picks up from elsewhere, and it's very eclectic. it's really helped her out mentally.

so that's why i'm such a hater. our societal ennui is such a self-inflicted problem that causes soooo many problems downstream (i'd chalk the last decade of world events to "westerners were bored") despite having such easy solutions. and genuinely: it is a skill issue!

do you know how incredible it is that we have the entire world and so much of history at our fingertips? i can load up music streaming and listen to obscure greek death metal from the 90s. it's fucking incredible. yet people instead use this freedom to reinforce their taste in slop.

but you also will never catch me rotting on the couch for hours on end, watching low-quality netflix slop that exists as a perpetual 5/10. not even focused on the movie, just either zoning out or browsing tiktoks on my phone. that is the movie equivalent of listening to drake.

if you don't care to explore music: that's fine! we have a finite amount of time. i generally don't watch movies or TV because i'd rather spend that time getting in-depth into the interests i'm passionate about. it's the same concept, and that shit is a deliberate choice.

being a big fan of drake in most cases means that you are unambitious and uninterested in new things. you don't listen to music, you just want a background noise. i would respect you way more if you just said you don't like music and put on a podcast or just sat in silence.

for a decade now, drake's music has been fundamentally empty, repetitive, devoid of anything noteworthy. his music is intended to not be actively listened to, but instead pad out playlists and be inoffensive in the aux. there is no reason to listen to one drake song over another. it is actual slop.

the world would be a better place if the dudebros just dated each other instead
