As well as the science always being wrong, whenever anyone says stop doing a healthcare because "it causes autism" they are telling you they think autism is a terrible affliction worth making serious medical risks to avoid.

This admission proves only that they are cunts because autism is not bad.

For all of those still saying that we shouldn't celebrate the death of a Nazi... just remember that the rising tide of fascism can't be stemmed with words alone.

It's no bad thing to make Nazi's afraid. Anyone who says otherwise is simply telling you where their (Nazi) allegiance rests...

Been catching up on today's news just now...

Always a good day when it ends with one less Nazi in the world! Good riddance to fascist rubbish, I hope his soul knows nothing but eternal torment.

Thank you Alex, I really appreciate it 💜

Thank you Ash! Yeah, it isn't fun - no escape at work at all! I'm definitely hopefully this time away will do me as much wonders as it can given the circumstances

I both need time away from studying transphobia, and time away from archaeology. So I'm taking it.

I will be back for TAG25, I hope rejuvenated and ready to get back into the PhD. What comes after that, who knows. It will depend a lot on the direction archaeology takes on human rights.

... my whole life. I have loved this discipline since I was 4 years old and watching TimeTeam. I have planned my life around becoming an archaeologist for the last 23 years, and yet now I cannot love it because of how major archaeology organisations have responded to the assault on trans people...

... if I said that the way the upper management at the University of York have handled (and indeed supported) the ruling and guidance hasn't been a significant factor in the decline of my mental health. This is also true of other archaeology organisations. I've wanted to be an archaeologist...

I decided on this course of action just over a month ago, but I wanted to see out my excavation in Sackville Gardens and some of my speaking obligations before I started my LOA. I have the full support of my department and my supervisors in this, for which I am grateful.

However I would be lying...

As of today I'm taking a step back from the PhD, and related work, for the next three months to focus on my mental health.

Since the Supreme Court ruling my mental health has been in rapid decline, and it's simply no longer sustainable for me to go into work and study transphobia as a day job...

Ironically enough, Graham Linehan once wrote and self-published an article about me in which he called me a "vicious male bully"...

Guess it was an exercise in displacement!

What a fucking cunt, hope he rots in hell 👋

... this matter in their sessions/talks (and I know many who are) we can pressure the EAA to change tack from inside the conference. Nonetheless, I want nothing further to do with the EAA and after using the platform I am fortunate enough to have today, I will, as stated, be leaving EAA permanently.
owenexiehurcum.bsky.social
I will, however, not give the EAA anymore money and I will be cancelling my membership. Having spoken to other attendees, I felt it important to use the platform I have as a speaker at this conference, rather than surrendering it. Perhaps with all the other archaeologists also speaking up on...
owenexiehurcum.bsky.social
I have decided, as I've already paid to attend this conference, to use my talking slot today in the EAA roundtable "Archaeology? Good God! What is it Good For!?" to talk on this matter rather than immediately pulling out. I have, however, quickly made an appropriate Zoom background for my talk...

You don't have to be #EAA member to email regarding #EA2025 mess.

Email is so important - many people don't use social media & online comments can be dismissed, but heartfelt emails from individuals can't be ignored...

Please write today. Thank you!

If you're an #archaeologist whether in #EAA or not, please email (politely & respectfully) to voice concerns about #EAA2025.

This is our discipline, our sector, & we don't have to be members of an org to voice concern about what it does in our name.

It's also a betrayal of Archaeology. In 1986 the World Archaeology Congress stood firm, despite pressures, against South Aftican apartheid in a move that showed the true power of archaeological solidarity. The EAA would do well to learn from this... so here's some recommended reading on the topic...

That the European Archaeology Association overturned their decision to exclude Israeli institutions from participating in their annual conference, meaning organisations intertwined with Israel's genocide of Palestinians will still be represented at EAA 2025, is appalling.

They call it the "Migrant Debate" because calling it the "Migrant Question" is, currently at least, still a little too on the nose for the tabloid press and far-right leaders - doesn't mean it isn't exactly the same Nazi dogwhistle.

See also "Trans Rights Debate".

So I was told by the people running the excavation that it was buried in 1983 and the dated artefacts we found in the fill (numerous wrappers with 1983 Best Before Dates) confirm this. That's all I can say, but I know if you search for the Kelvin Wheelies project on Glasgow Uni's website theres more

Aha thanks! I'm quite anal about my trench edges and I'm very glad the trench team were fully on board and saw it through to its beauty aha!
owenexiehurcum.bsky.social
Was a pleasure to be one site! I look forward to following the rest of the excavation!

Was also just fascinating to dig out! Coming down onto a 1977/78 concrete structure underneath the much older rubble that was used to bury it in 1983 intermixed with 1983 artefacts! I also loved finding a TipTop sachet as I had many of this in my recent Manchester dig of the same period!
