see i always thought it was bc he can use the fan as a weapon. so it's like keeping a knife under your pillow but Better (less chance of self-injury AND short&ranged options!)

if you mean Stuff Growing: i've had a miro mh7000 and it's got a uv sterilizer built in AND the tank's stainless steel AND everything but the base is pretty easily washable. i'm immunocompromised+lung problems and it's made this winter SO much easier

if by scum you mean mineral buildup: a vinegar soak every once in a while helps, bonus if you soak paper towels in 5% vinegar and line the inside bits of the humidifier
