Francesca‘s current research investigates the phenomenon of ‘pseudo-law’ in the UK, exploring how critical groups of citizens engage with unorthodox interpretations of legal texts to challenge state authority.

Francesca is a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. She has a background in both law and anthropology and completed her PhD in Law (Socio–Legal Theory) at the London School of Economics.

Fernanda is an anthropologist who specializes in Tibetan societies. Her most recent book, The Rule of Laws (Profile 2021) is a global history of law, which traces the rise and fall of the world’s major legal systems. She is currently conducting historical work on Tibetan legal texts.
