🌋 New paper led by Emma Horn & the CAVES Project!

We’ve characterised the glass geochemistry of 15 major Azores eruptions (~100 ka). This dataset provides fingerprints to trace Azores tephra across Europe, Africa & beyond. 🔎

📣 Our recent paper, led by researchers at INGV, provides detail of the magmatic system that extends below the Campi Flegrei caldera, Naples, Italy. These data provide new insights into magma storage and ascent pathways beneath this restless and active caldera: www.nature.com/articles/s43...

This summer Tom Burman, Rebecca Lawton and Jade Sands joined us through the UNIQ+ Programme. They worked on a variety of interesting tephra projects 🌋🥼🔬

UNIQ+ is a great way to experience research first-hand and recommended for anyone curious about postgraduate study.

(L) The end of my UNIQ+ internship @oxfordtephra.bsky.social in 2022, and (R) two weeks ago in the 2nd year of my PhD (and in the chaos of #StormÉowyn), continuing to analyse tephra from Campi Flegrei. An insightful experience for those considering PhD life! 🔬🌋
