Online Identity Needed

I will in time change my display name to the one on my passport (starts with Malcolm), but I think that the problem of unaccountability in social media is so damaging that I will persist with my slogan for now.
😢May Ukraine's victory remind the world of the sacrifice they made for freedom.

Never forget Trump's culpability for his part in emboldening Putin. After his death generations of his family should be reminded.

Australians are generally no shrinking violets. But at the risk of arrogance my suggestion for 'what change' is to accentuate the responsible/humble side of the US focus on freedom, namely; freedom from (imposition, exploitation) rather than freedom to (speak, impose).

Maybe not all America but certainly his patsy.

Of course you should vote, but also think about the notion that justice shouldn't be influenced by politics.

In parliamentary systems of gov't the judiciary are not subject to popular vote coz their independence is deemed paramount. Only the very top roles are appointed by Parliamentary consensus.

Maybe they are yet to appreciate the gravity of their choice.

Before WWII both US and British establishment figures were Nazi sympathisers.

The human psyche can be deeply tribal and especially so in old age, it's hard to do, but seeking to foster understanding is the only remedy available.

The combination of a WH fool useful to laissez faire capitalists and a SCOTUS with a darkest of black-letter law perspective combined with appointee fealty, is deeply confronting for America and the democratic world.

The Ochs-Sulzberger family by dint of history have a duty to report objectively.

NYT has a place among journals of record in the world & that brings with it a journalistic/editorial ethical imperative.

In this, American fake-news crisis, that imperative has never been clearer or more pressing.

Be proud America, the MAGA stain will be removed and your place leading the civilised world restored.

Well, no they probably don't appreciate policy consequences.

The BREXIT referendum demonstrated how the emotions of least discriminating get manipulated to vote against their own interests.

Every nation has a comparable exploitable demographic that trashy media & populists seek to plunder.

Shutting down the Russian oil industry for both export and fuelling its military misjudgement is a work in progress.

The fickle nonce could make that progress rapid but the alliance of the willing will likely get there eventually.

Putin can't defy the inevitability of a dictator's fate forever.

If Russia had an economy capable of funding the restoration and adversaries that permit the pause they need, then yes, it could happen. But unlikely.

Protesting by entering a military base and the influence of pro Zionists are the key issues. Starmer is leader of a party, not its dictator.

Politics is complex and voters have limited choices. It's always a 'least bad' choice and ranting only helps extremists.

Zionists are losing, that's good.

Those elected to public office (must include media) need to faithfully seek to selflessly serve & commit to expose others in public office that fail to. Very difficult to do, but is there an alternative that the entire world could conceivably trust in?

Isn't this a truly self-evident truth?

The US has been World leader since WWII, but like all empires the empire of democratic wisdom faces the limits of its vision.

Humans have brains dominated by emotion inherited from our mammalian herd instincts. Our vision now must include our emotions if it is to prevail.

The nightmare for the US is that members of Congress put their continued membership above their nation & the media, which is the information source voters use, similarly put their commercial success above the nation too.

But, that's true in all democracies, so why aren't Trumps everywhere?

America's best and brightest know that nation must be above self, so why hasn't their wisdom trickled down to the many elected to Congress?

I say that a US cultural obsession with the individual's right to "freedom to", as opposed to "freedom from" is the cause. But America must decide.

For the moment Australia looks to have settled on the compromise of a King who has no power over Australians other than to resolve an unlikely impasse in our Parliament

That Parliament has legislated to avoid such an impasse after one has shown to be possible. Coz nation must be above self
