I'm normal. My interests include video games, anime, and Chinese history 1850-1875.
So Fist of the North Star part 2 is pretty wack what with all the retcons and the fights that devolve into ki blasts. But it still has flashes of brilliance, my favorite being the twenty guys sitting on each other's shoulders to do a human centipede attack

The nuclear apocalypse is basically irrelevant to the plot of FotNS, which revolves around 4000 year old feuding martial arts schools that seem at most slightly inconvenienced by mass extinction. But it's extremely relevant to the aesthetics, and the disjuncture of the two is a non-problem.

Macross Plus is kinda fun in that it is 90% Top Gun, 9% Ghost in the Shell, and 1% a sequel to Macross

Finally got around to watching Macross: Do You Remember Love?
It cuts so much of the story presumably assuming some prior familiarity with the show, and also makes a bunch of changes that don't really matter unless you knew the original.
So as a stand alone film it's kinda weak...

Gundam Unicorn thoughts- Banagher Links is a relatively flat character but it's the right call for the story being told. The story is deeply rooted in all the UC Gundam that came before it. Banagher is a man set upon a quest, in the most direct way possible.

Full thoughts on Gundam Seed-

It's basically two shows that don't really connect to each other. Part one is alternate universe 0079, which loses points on originality but is still basically fine since the stuff it's copying is really good.

Tried jackfruit, the "goat of the trees." Pretty good.

Finished watching Gundam Seed. I may follow up with more in depth thoughts. Firstly, I lolled whenever the Archangel took a missile hit. We get the standard Star Trek bridge shaking shot, and then, for some reason, a tightly cropped shot just of Captain Murrue's breasts jiggling from the impact...

Cleared Cruciball 20 with all characters in Peglin. Would not really recommend going past 15 or so for a normal brained person, you end up very much at the mercy of RNG.

Watching Gundam Seed. I hope the big alien whale skeleton does something cool.

Gundam IBO takes place far enough in the future that Mars is terraformed but near enough that Edmonton still looks the same. Unless, and this is just a theory, Edmonton became such a beloved cultural landmark that it's been painstakingly preserved in amber for millenia

Wild how busy the American Dream mall is, if you remember the surreal ghost town it used to be. Still a bizarre monument to capitalist hubris but it's legitimately popping

Fate of Ophelia isn't like *bad* or anything but if it's the best thing on the album that doesn't bode well

It's cool that I can clear both La Mulanas without a guide but "must play five cards" is still a baffling puzzle

Wondering if my many years of listening to death metal is why I like Band Maid so much. Hard rock with partially unintelligible lyrics and all black outfits

Decided to pick up Balatro again and cycle through every deck on gold stakes. Got Black in two tries but rn I'm flailing on Abandoned of all things. Feels bad.

Finished Gundam IBO. It's a melodramatic crime drama which only ever ends in blood, and I enjoyed it for the textbook Tragedy that it is. Fatal flaws, hubris, stupidity, etc. Yeah Fortinbras wins but how much do you really care about who rules Denmark

So it's the Nian rebellion, it's been a decade of war and the yellow river changing course on top of that, so naturally a group of soldiers/bandits are starving to death like so many millions did. Some lucky bastard, however, finds a pig by the side of the road.
